OBB Train Schedule

I am traveling in Mar 2010. Currently only tickets until Dec 12, 09 can be booked on the OBB site. Does anyone know when they will open the schedule for dates after this?

The new schedule will be released in a few weeks but be informed that online bookings are only recommendable if someone intends to travel internationally (and desires a discounted ticket). Domestic tickets can be bought 10 minutes prior to departure.

I am looking to get a discount ticket going to Prague with perhaps a stop in Brno. Thank you for the info.

|||

The new timetable should be online at about 15 october... but mind that especially in local transport it won%26#39;t have all the details so soon.

|||

Discounted tickets are tied to the certain train and thus may not be interrupted (anywhere in between).

I saw the discount ticket from Vienna to Prague was 29 Euros. I%26#39;ve decided to stay 1 night in Brno on my way to Prague. I haven%26#39;t yet determined the price of the ticket from Vienna to Brno %26amp; Brno to Prague. Is it beneficial to purchase these tickets ahead of time or is there no problem purchasing them the day of travel?

Would someone also tell me what a VORTEILScard is?

|||

Vorteilscard is a discount card programme of Austrian Railways ÖBB that grants 50% off the domestic fare. The regular card costs 99€, the ones for students and seniors between 20€ and 30€. In your case it won%26#39;t be beneficial as the distance between Vienna and the state border is rather small not amortizing the costs of the card itself. The easiest way would be to purchase a regular ticket to Brno and a domestic ticket to Prague which should be affordable.

The official price Vienna - Brno is €28, but you can get it cheaper if you just buy a ticket to Breclav on the day, and then for the Breclav - Brno section you can buy a ticket here https://eshop.cd.cz/search.aspx?lang=E for 2 of you it costs 118 Crowns (about €4,60 - €2.30 each) - print it off at home and just show it to the conductor. NB there is no need to reserve as you will already be sitting in the seats!

Congratulations for choosing to go to Brno - the finest city in the Czech Republic - you need to stay longer than one night, though :)
