7 days in Germany - How much time to spend in Salzburg?

One of my friends and I (both women in our early 30s) are planning a 7-day trip to southern Germany for Oct 5-11 and are trying to determine what to do. We are flying into Munich and out of Frankfurt and will be renting a car.

Unfortunately, we have too many places we would like to see and are trying to figure out what to cut out of our trip. The places we are interested in are:

Munich

Salzburg, Berchtesgaden and the Konigsee (and perhaps Chiemsee) (Can all of these be done in 1-1.5 days?)

Driving a bit of the Alpine Road

Mittenwald, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Neuschwanstein

Drive to Baden-Baden either via the southern roads to Freiburg or going up part of the Romantic Road and then over to Baden-Baden. (Any advice on which to do?)

Baden-Baden (and the Black Forest) and Strasbourg

Heidelburg and then driving from Heidelburg to Frankfort the day we fly out

With only 7 full days, we clearly can%26#39;t do all of this (or at least not for anything more than 1-1.5 days per location). Any ideas on what to cut out of the itinerary? (For example, is Strasbourg better than Salzburg or vice versa?) Are there any towns you would skip out of the above or anything we have left out that we are really missing?

Also, if you could give any ideas on how long you would spend in each place or any particularly great things to do while there, I%26#39;d really appreciate it! We would like to see as much as possible, but we don%26#39;t want to have to run from place to place and miss things. Thanks.

Salzburg is absolutely wonderful. You can see a lot in Salzburg in one day. Here%26#39;s what I did in one day using the 24-hour Salzburg card. tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g190441-i391-k2998…

One of the highlights is the trick fountains at Hellbrunn. Very unique and very entertaining. Check the palace%26#39;s website to be certain that they are operating the day you will be there.

Mittenwald, Garmish-Partenkirchen and Neuschwanstein are very near to one another. IMO, skip Garmisch in favor of small town Mittenwald.

Neuschwanstein has a very dramatic setting and is well worth the visit but if you want the FULL King Ludwig palace extravanga, go to nearby Linderhof: fully completed (Neuschwanstein was not), over-the-top gold gild, Meissen porcelein, gardens, fountains. Don%26#39;t miss Linderhof%26#39;s Venus Grotto and the Moroccan Pavilion. Also in the area is Weisskirche. Well worth a quick stop to see this roccoco masterpiece.

Thank you! This (and your other post) were both very helpful!
