Can anyone please advise; I plan to stay in St Anton from the 28 Dec to the 2 Jan. I have heard the saying %26#39;Once Arlberg, always Arlberg!%26#39;.
Only problem I%26#39;m experiencing is finding available and/or affordable accommodation over that time. Coming from South Africa and paying in SA rands makes it a little challenging.

This is one of the busiest times of the year for ski resorts. Most hotels do not wish to %26quot;break up%26quot; times of accomodation as many require at least a week or more during the period December 24 - January 6th.
I would suggest you contact the tourist office in St. Anton with your requirements. Perhaps they can assist you.
Also , you should know that some villages are also near to St. Anton offering accomodations, not as convenient but ask about them as these being less desireable may have some availibility.

%26quot;Affordable Accommodation%26quot; bit of an %26quot;Oxymoron%26quot; when referring to this area of Tirol. Even more so over the xmas period. We usually stay in Ischgl the week just before Xmas week for a few days largely because a) it%26#39;s cheaper and b) as previously mentioned Hoteliers are unwilling to break up xmas week bookings. The booking systems on-line also have predefined booking criteria set by each hotel normally based on the number of days before arrival and the number of overnights. Even finding accommodation that time of year in neighbouring villages is nigh on impossible. I was in Ischgl once between xmas and new year with friends and they attempted to find accommodation in the area. Even as far back as Innsbruck they found nothing available.
