We%26#39;ll be in Hallstatt for 2 days begining of October and are looking for a cheap, but clean place to stay near the ferry as we will have to carry our luggage.

Hi kspinner- it all depends on what you call cheap.
In January I stayed in a place called Gasthof Simony and paid 35 Euros for a single room, shared bathroom. In another review onthe page I have included a link to I notice someone paid 75 Euros for a single room with a private bathroom.
Gasthof Simony is very close to the ferry and right on the main square in the old town- I found it convenient for what I wanted.

There are not sooo many hotels/guest houses in Hallstatt and most of them are in the old village and easy walkable from the ferry.
