My family 2 adults 2 kids (7 %26amp; 9) would like to take our first European skiing adventure this year. I am advanced skier and my children are beginner/intermediate. My husband does not ski. I am looking for a resort with plenty of non-ski options (tobaggon, skating, dog sledding, swimming etc.) along with good ski areas. We have done most of our skiing in California and are use to that. We are living in the UK right now and wanted to take advantage of it and try the European skiing.
We are open to try any country and any place. There are just too many to pick from and I am looking for suggestions from my friends here on TO.
I appreciate any suggestions.

Where do you start. My personal favourite resort is Ischgl and have been taking my kids there for the last 8 years (since they were 7 %26amp; 9 coincidentally). They love it and wouldn%26#39;t go anywhere else. Excellent lift system and snow safe record (village at 1300m). Good Large Mountain restaurants at the top of the main lifts. Ski area linked to the swiss resort of Samnaun. Has a bit of a rep as a party town. There is a swimming pool. Not sure about ice-skating. Wouldn%26#39;t say there is much for non-skiers during the day. ALternative places are Kitzbuehel Arena (now also linked to Skiwelt (ellmau, Scheffau, Soll), the %26quot;spa%26quot; ski resorts like Bad Gastein/Bad Hof Gastein or Schladming. Remember that many Resorts in Austria are low lying (village level 600-800m) with top lift only ~ 1600-1800m

I was looking at Serfaus %26amp; Fiss or Zell am See. Any comments on these?
Thanks
