Prague to Vienna: Bus or Train?

Is there any other bus or train from Prague to Vienna? I%26#39;ve looked at SC Pendolino. It says,

Brno hl.n. - Wien (297 CZK)

Praha-Holešovice - Wien (593 CZK)

Which of this should I take to get to Vienna? I can%26#39;t seem to find a link to purchase the tickets. Is there only one train to Vienna? I%26#39;m looking for something cheap. If possible, a night bus or train where I can sleep in. Is there any bus or trains accepting ISIC card for discounts?

Thanks in advance.

There are many trains from Prague to Vienna, just look here:

http://www.oebb.at/vip8/oebb/en/index.jsp

The fastest direct connection will take you about 4 hours, so youn will not need an overnight connection.

There is an overnight connection leaving prague at 1 am and arriving in Vienna at 6am.

But all infos you will get from the website above.

Concering the buses:

You cannot take the one from Brno, because this is a different city located between Prague and Vienna. This would be the right one:

Praha-Holešovice - Wien (593 CZK)

But I would take the train - more convenient.

I%26#39;ve looked at the OBB website you%26#39;ve given me. I%26#39;m interested in the

Praha hl.n. - Wien Sudbahnhof (Bstg. 01-09)

Dep 01.01, Arr 06:03

But I can%26#39;t seem to find the price for this journey.

As for the Pendolino, I can%26#39;t seem to find the timetable for it.

Between the OBB and Pendolino, which do you think is more convenient. Is Vienna the last stop for both?

I am not an expert for the prices, but i just found this link on the website about very cheap fares:

oebb.at/vip8/…

Maybe RobbiAUSTRIA will help you, he is a train expert!

Write him a message! or create anew post titled %26quot;Help with train fares%26quot; - I am sure he will help!

...and I found:

I can%26#39;t find the price for the OBB ticket I wanted.

Do I have to call to reserve tickets? When I click the link %26#39;Ticket by Post%26#39;, it appeared in a language I do not understand.

Is there any website where I can just book or reserve the tickets in advance? It seems quite inconvenient to purchase the tickets online.

I%26#39;ve tried Pendolino but there%26#39;s a pricing list, but I can%26#39;t purchase it.

Hi - it isn%26#39;t easy to book the tickets online. We travelled from Vienna to Prague. In the end, we went to the station to buy the tickets. Cost about 44 euros for a ticket, plus 7 euros reservation which is required on certain trains (1.33 and 3.33 pm, if I recall). Hope this helps.

Here we usually do not book train tickets in advance, we just go to the station and buy the tickets before boarding the train. We only make reservation in advance if we travel in large groups or want special seats, but usually it is not necessary.

But to be sure you could try the CallCenter from the OEBB-

Mind, whenever you travel in Europe... most people do not buy their ticket in advance (especially for national travel)... they just walk to the station and get their ticket.

Railways sometimes try to fix you to one train, booked early in advance with low fares... (happens mainly in France, partly in Germany)... but the usual way is to walk to the station and buy the ticket. It%26#39;s not like flying!

The Pendolino train between Praha and Wien is marked as %26quot;SC%26quot; (SuperCity) train in the timetable... all trains are run by national railways (in Austria: ÖBB, in Czech Republic: CZ).

And one other important info: usually you get the best price if you buy the ticket in the country where your journey starts from... so: Prague to Vienna: Czech Republic.

Trains can usually never sell out, except the are marked in the timetable with: %26quot;Subject to compulsory reservation%26quot;, but it happens maybe less than once a year that one can%26#39;t get a seat reservation for one of these trains!

I would like to find a train for 2 adults from Vienna to Prague on Friday 25th April that leaves Sudbanhof after 9pm. Round trip please. Tks. Carmen Micallef Email address: cmicallef@gwu.org.mt.

I noticed most of these posts were form 2 yrs ago. Is it still customary for one to purchase train tickets from Vienna to Prague only a few days in advance? I am looking at that route for travel on 25 Sept (a Friday) and was wondering if there is a good chance the trains in the middle of the day will be sold out. My only other option is overnight delivery via UPS and pray that the tickets come on sat or I am out of luck.

Thanks
