Recent news reports about additions to accomodations in Vienna.
Many know about the budget/hostel accomodation of Wombats in Vienna- both near to the westbahnhof.
www.wombats.at Wombats is reported to be opening a new and much larger place in addition to the existing hostels.
The new place will be near the Naschmarkt - be 3 story with hundreds of beds.
Supposedly to open June 2010.
Also the Deluxe 5 star chain Shangri La will open a new Vienna hotel on the Schubertring area of the Ringstrasse.
Construction is underway with an opening supposedly by the Fall of 2010.
About 200 rooms with an indoor pool. They use the exterior of the existing several bulidings and build all new inside. This similar to the work done at the Ring Hotel and Le Meridien.
I mention these things for those planning in advance,as often you can get some good opening specials perhaps.
Some caution as Vienna is notorious for slow construction projects.
