Special restaurant and Opera

Hello

I was thinking of taking my mother here as a present for her 70th birthday in december and also to get us both in the Xmas spirit. My mum will be 70 (she is young minded and likes good food). Can someone recommend a special place to go? Where to locals go for a very special occassion or what has a good reputation? Something famous or well known would be nice.

Also I wondered about an opera or something while we were there. Are most subtitled in English? How expensive and interesting are these and are they running all the time?

Ive been to only one opera before which was subtitled. It seemed to go on forever though.

small restaurant, so you should call some days before for reservation,

and has really delicious food, attentive waiters. The only negative thing is that smoking is allowed.

This place is favored by many for special occasions.

Many offerings will have subtitles but not all.

The program usually indicates which have subtitles.

I would find a synopsis before attending to become familiar with the plot before visiting. This easily done.

The available nightly programs also have a synopsis by act.

the nearby Cafe Weimar makes a good dining experience many locals go there before or after the evening of music.

Good menu, servixe is usually good too.. Just a 5 minute walk from the Volksoper.

Also close by is %26quot;Kim Kocht %26quot; restaurant 1 minute from the Volksoper- personnally not my favorite place, but many like it and I should be fair and mention this possibility also.

With Vienna having such a good transport system you have an easy way to dine most places in the city center and still reach the music venue without any troubles.

Vienna - a great place at this time of year and filled with all forms of Christmas Spirit- some drinkable - try the Punsch.
