Okay, this sounds like a silly question but I just called my mum and told her that we are visiting Vienna, and she requested me to email her many great views of the Danube river. She (age 70ish) likes the Blue Danube music very much, and she is very far away from me and Europe, I will certainly want to fulfil her wish.We have very tight schedule in Vienna, please can someone can tell me where is the best view to take the photos?

I have to add that we won%26#39;t do any river cruise and only stay in the city of Vienna.

If you do not wish to leave Vienna-
Take the UBahn line U-1 to the stop Donauinsel. This is 5 stops from Stephansdom / City Center in the direction of Leopoldau.
When you exit the train you are directly on a bridge crossing the Danube on an island in the middle of the river. A short walk to either bank.
Numerous photo opportunities, including a beautiful Church on the shore area
The high area of Kahlenberg reached by bus 38A from the U-4 end station Heiienstadt offers good views also.
A visit to the Donauturm - a high viewing tower not far from the river is also good.
The most beautiful and scenic views would be those fond in the Wachau, especially the village of Dürnstein. However this is about 1 hour 30 minutes by train from Vienna. If you have the time this area is exceptional for tourists with great views from the terrace of Stift Dürnstein.

I live near to the Danube- see it daily. I have never seen it to be blue- mostly brownish or a light green color.
For times to the Danube views
Donauinsel - about 10- 15 minutes via UBahn Line U-1 from City center Stephansdom direction Leopoldau
Kahlenberg-
U-4 to Heiligenstadt from city center Schwedenplatz perhaps 15 minutes - then transfer to bus 38 A 25 minutes perhaps total time 40 minutes ? depending on waiting times and traffic.
