we%26#39;ve been looking at car hire in Austria but the deposit taken from the companies is crippling, most are looking for 500 euro. I know that you get it back but does anyone know of any company that doesnt take so much from your card?

Which companies have you tried? Last time I hired I used Sixt. They took a valid card impression which they would charge only if the car was returned damaged. It wasn%26#39;t so no charge was made other than the rental. I thought most major companies did the same.
