first time visitor - 2 days in innsbruck

the 2 of us are visiting vienna in mid september for a convention - desperate to see more of austria !

2 Days in innsbruck (and 2 in Salzburg) ok?

Should we spend nights traveling to save days or are the distances too short for that ?

Any proposed itinerary for 2 days in innsbruck (and salzburg) ?

Distances are too short to travel overnight. On a fast train it takes 2h45min from Vienna to Salzburg and 2 hours from Salzburg to Innsbruck.

Tip: If you actually travel Vienna%26gt;Salzburg%26gt;Innsbruck purchase a ticket covering the entire distance (Vienna%26gt;Innsbruck) and interrupt in Salzburg. This is allowed with tickets covering more than 100km and you would benefit from a much better fare as the price per km goes down the farther you travel.
