November in Innsbruck

Hi all,

I%26#39;m planning a two days stay in Innsbruck from 10 to 12 Nov this year. Searching thru the internet, I have noticed most of the sight seeing attraction (Nordkettenbahen, Schloss Ambras) are close during that period.

Is there any suggested place to visit during that short period stay?

Schloss Ambras seems to be closed at this time but where did you read that the cable car up to Hafelekar is not in service?

Beside Innsbruck itself I would contemplate visiting the nearby town of %26#39;Hall%26#39; (9 minutes by local train) which has a gorgeous town center. You could also take tram #STB (Stubaitalbahn = special tram going from the main station in Innsbruck up to %26#39;Fulpmes%26#39; in the Stubaital Valley. Be aware that you need to pay a supplement as you leave the city zone of Innsbruck.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. From the website of www.nordpark.com, it did mentioned Nordkettenbahen is open till 8 Nov 2009.

Do you think it%26#39;s possible to tour Nordkettenbahen (if open), Glockenmuseum Grassmayr and the Hall town within 1.5 days?

The Nordbahn is closed for the period November 9- 27.

This is a normal period for inspection and repairs before the winter season.

The sights in Innsbruck are for the most part close together and you can easily do them in a short time.

1 1/2 days enough

look to the Hofburg Palace , Hofkirche ( Imperial Church), Golden Roof and the museum all very near to each other.

Grassmayr

Innsbruck long ago well known for its medal working expertise. Much arms and armour was made in this area formerly.

Possible interest if time permits

a visit to the former premier silver mine of Europe centuries ago in Schwaz.
