Can you tell me if Kaprun is a good skiing place for a young family. I%26#39;ve been told it is too cold up on the glacier and maybe not great for learning. This will be childrens 2nd trip only.

A good answer to your quesstion depends much on the time of year you plan to visit.
Many know Kaprun only with its glacier and this is not the best place for a beinning sking adventure in summer or winter in my opinion.
However in winter season- December -April the Maiskogel area by Kaprun makes for good family skiing with good ski school possibilities.

Do you specifically wish to go to this area for skiing. Last time I was in Kaprun I had good weather but at high altitude one can never tell how it will change. Also there is little/no protection from the elements compared to a lower resort with a tree-line. My kids like to go to Ischgl and the Skiwelt (ellmau, Brixen in Thale) and although they are now 15 and 17 have liked both these places since they started going there/skiing aged 6 %26amp; 8
