Hello,
Panoramatours seems to be very popular. I haven%26#39;t done the tour myself but lots of posters here say they%26#39;ve had a great time:

In December the Christmas markets will be in full swing so the city will be wonderful!! You need warm clothing. Good shoes in case it%26#39;s icy underfoot; warm coat, hat and gloves. We tend to wear layers so that when we go into a cafe for hot chocolate we can peel a few layers off :-) You definitely need a hat!
Have a great trip.
Liz.

I%26#39;ve been several times during that week.
I pack layers and generally wear a camisole under a long sleeve Dri-Fit shirt; jeans or cords; Uggs; full length (down or fur), scarf, hat and gloves.
I pack a nice pair of mid heeled leather boots for evenings and a few turtlenecks to wear with black pants as we generally dress up a bit for dinner.
Must haves include an umbrella and my husband wears ear covers when it%26#39;s really cold.

I put my mom on a SOM tour with Panorama and she loved it! Small van, small group so more personal that a tour bus and she really enjoyed the day.

My wife and I will be in Salzburg in mid October. If we do the tour, should we book in advance, or should we just book it from the hotel when we get there. We are only staying overnight, and would probably want to do the tour the day we leave, before heading out of town.

Thanks for the tips!
Colven - i guess the best to book the tour from the hotel itself...
it;s gonna be a couple of euros more expensive but you can actually suit your convenience.

I booked online since our travel dates were firm. It is a busy time of year and I also wanted to make sure she was on the small van and not on a big tour bus.
