Which concert is best?

My family will be in Salzburg over Christmas. There are concerts at the Fortress Hohensalzburg and at the Mirabell Palace. Is one better than the other? Also, is the dinner at either one worthwhile? Would anyone recommend the Mozart dinner concert at Stiftskeller St. Peter over the concerts at the Fortress or Mirabell Palace?

I%26#39;ve been to the fortress concert and the Stiftskeller St Peter one. I haven%26#39;t been to Mirabel. My opinion is that the Stiftskeller St Peter concert is the best. The ambiance of the baroque room is lovely and the music is more varied as there are singers as well as musicians. The music is played between the courses of the meal so you get to know the people on your table. We loved it. At the fortress the piano player did not engage with the audience at all. He seemed to wish he was elsewhere and rushed in and out. At Stiftskeller St Peter the singers really do engage with the audience and at one point the soprano was looking right at me as she was singing. It was lovely. If you ask for the best tickets you%26#39;ll find yourself right at the front table.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of possibly going to the Stiftskeller for Christmas dinner. Would you recommend going there twice? Would you have any other recommendations for Christmas dinner?

I have only been to the Stiftskeller concert and loved it. The music was great, the atmosphere was great. You should enjoy it

The dinner concert is not in the restaurant but in a huge baroque room. I%26#39;ve never eaten at the restaurant at Stiftskeller St Peter but perhaps someone who has can advise you better. We mostly eat at Gasthof Doktorwirt which is in the suburbs (and serves stunningly good food) so I%26#39;m not able to recommend a really special city centre restaurant.
