Nuremburg vs Vienna Christmas markets, any thoughts?

This is a REALLY early posting but next year my husband and I would like to visit another Christmas market. We have been to Cologne and Nuremburg which we loved but I fancy something different. Has anyone visited both and could give an opinion? Any help is much appreciated.

I%26#39;ve been to both, and it is like comparing chocolate and strawberries. They are both good, but they are different.

Personally, I prefer Vienna. You%26#39;ll have more than one Christmas Market, and you%26#39;ll have sooooooooo much more to do and see. Vienna a Christmas-time is truly a wonder --- even for a large city.

Thanks for that , can I ask where abouts you stayed and if you recommend a particular area which is best for the markets?

Sorry to butt in on this thread, but you may like to look at this recent post about Vienna%26#39;s markets with some web links.

Thanks for that, have you been to Nuremburg or Cologne and could give a comparison?

Thanks for the link, have you been to Nuremburg or Cologne as well?

Sorry, no - I%26#39;m a Vienna addict!

I was to the Nurnberg one time and enjoyed it but the crowds were amazing.

Some very nicely decorated stands, atmosphere and a few things I have not seen in Vienna. But a hard time to get to see things with the crowds. The holiday tree decorations were especially nice.

Overall with more choices in Vienna and excepting for the market at the Rathaus, I believe the Vienna markets had more variety and think you would enjoy them.
