Hi there,
My boyfriend and I are off to Salzburg early December and I was wondering if 1, there will be snow at this time of year, and if so is there anywhere we could go skiing or snowboarding for a day or two out of sightseeing. We are complete beginners so was wondering if there are any snow schools that are easy to get to that will also rent us all the equipment we need?
Of course this could all be irrelevant if there is no snow!!
Really looking forward to visiting this beautiful city!

Most ski resorts wil not be opening until early December and you may find you are too early for a good experience.
Check with a Salzburg Tourist Office.
Salzburg during ski season runs a ski bus to various places. Using this option , if operating when you are there is an easy and painless way for a days outing.
Remember your day will be limited as you must count on transfer times to a resort and be aware that darkness comes quickly , probably about 4:30 ( 16:30 )
You may wish to reconsider this and use your time for sightseeing.

If you had a car then things would be easier. However even if there was abundance of snow you would still have the issue of %26quot;ski school%26quot; for 1 day. You would have to book a private lesson, along with the gear and a days ski-pass (if required). The ski resort of Flachau is advertising ski-opening on 3rd of December (snow permitting of course). Your closest possibilities in early season if snow was scarce would probably be Obertauern and the Glaciers at Kaprun and Ramsau - all of which are about 90km from Salzburg

Thanks very much for you replies. I think we will probably give skiing a miss and just enjoy the sights! I just saw a posting saying there was snow already!!
