Airport Questions

We will be in Vienna next week. We are going to be renting a car for a couple days and one of the options is to pick the car up at the airport. We are staying at the Levante Parliament which is behind the Rathhaus. Any idea on how long it would take to get to the airport? Does the Underground go out there? We have been to Vienna before so taking the Underground out to the airport is not a problem for us - just not sure how convenient it is. Thanks for your help.

Underground = UBahn

You have various choices- Hopefully you do not pick up the auto until you leave Vienna. The auto is really just a problem for you in the city. But you probably know this already.

Many auto rental firms have convenient offices in the center of vienna.

Hertz, Europcar, Sixt etc. this can save time for you and generally Vienna is very easy to drive from the center to the Autobahns exiting in any direction.

if you need to go to the airport you have various options.

The UBhan does not run to the airport.

For this you need to take the CAT Train , S- Bahn or airport transfer bus.

You can take the streetcar#2 on the Ring to Morzinplatz/ Schwedenplatz and then connect there for the airport bus. The bus runs about every 20- 30miutes- Total transfer time is about 45 minutes.

Bus cost 6 euro- plus single vienna ticket 1,80 euro for streetcar.( 2 euro if you buy on on the streetcar.)

Or from Wien Mitte the SBahn or CAT

CAT takes 16 minutes from MItte cost 9 euro plus cost to reach the station 1,80 euro for a single ticket

SBahn slightly longer - (10 minutes or so ) time but cheaper 3,60 total.

For the above all about 45 minutes.

Thanks Vertical. We are doing a couple day trips from Vienna and are using a car for that. Definitely not using it to get around Vienna! We were getting some different prices by renting at the airport versus in the city. Sound like after the cost of getting back and forth to the airport plus the time, we are better off renting from an office in the city.

By the way, how is the weather forcast for next week? I%26#39;ve seen in the mid 50s with some clouds.

Usually the forecast is more relaiable for only the next 3- 5 days.

Some find good rates with Sixt.

They have / had an office by the Sudbahnhof garage. This area due for reconstruction in December. Hopefully they are there for a while yet.

But easy to reach via public transport like the%26quot; D%26quot; streetcar .on the Ring.

Also you will find parking garages to be expensive in the city center area- probably 25- 30 euro. per day. Check with your hotel, they may be able to arrange something for guests assuming you keep the auto overnight during your excursions.
