We are a three generation family of six(grandparents non skiers, parents intermediate skiers, young children first time ski school). Is there English instruction in children%26#39;s ski school as no one speaks German ?Are we better off in Lech or Oberlech. Any suggestions for hotels with half board? Is it better to take train or bus from Zurich?Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help

Much english spoken everywhere in Lech- including ski school so this is no problem at all
Train is more frequent service - you take transfer train found in the lower level of the airport to the city and then train to langen stop - taxi transfer to Lech. easy-
Bus service less frequent but without changes and with luggage can be easier.
You visit at the most expensive and perhaps busiest time of the year. You may alos find that hotels require minumum fixed stays - one week or more- reserve early.
I prefer Oberlech as you have ski in ski out and quite a nice atmosphere.
Hotel Goldener Berg , Montana are nice but all places there are mostly good- downside - connection to lech is by cable car or a long walk- not extra convenient for late nights or non skirer.
Zhus in town lech may be better - easy to reach ski school in town center- re hotels - depends on price but most 4 star offer good situations.

Please check to company Arlberg Express (www.arlbergexpress.com), which takes a shuttle Bus daily from Zürich Airport direct to Lech. The have also minivans and small busses if you want to travell individually. I would recommend you as Hotel Krone, Berghof, Tannenbergerhof, Arlberg, Burg.

We stayed in Lech at http://www.knappaboda.com/ and it was so wonderful. $200 Euro per night - half board. There were LOTS of kids at this place. Family run place, great little bar and the breakfasts were alway great. Great heated ski locker and garage parking. English is spoken everywhere.
Oberlech is a simple tram ride up from Lech. It%26#39;s just a smaller collection of hotels with restaurants. Lech is more the main town.
We drove so I don%26#39;t know about the train, but I hear it is a really easy way to travel.
Your are in for an amazing Christmas! The skiing is unbelievable. Make sure you take the BIG tram ride across the valley to the restaurant at the top of the mountain. The view is stunning.
Fröhliches Weihnachten!
