Viena, Mauthausen, Melk

Hi,

I am living in Vienna and I would like to visit mauthausen camp and Melk.

I think the best way is to get the train, but can I see everything in one day?

How much does it cost to get in mauthausen?

Thank you!

I would not recommend trying to see both in one day.

Beginning in November and until spring Stift Melk is available for a tour at 11 and 14 ( 2 PM ) this limits your scheduling .

Mauthausen is open daily - audio guides are available - admission is still 2 euro I think.

Many signs in english to provide good descriptions. With much to see this can take some hours. With a 2 hour plus train ride and then transfer to the camp- this is more like a full day

Best travel way is by auto or second by train as you say.

The Mauthausen camp is some distance from the train station - walkable but easier by taxi.

Look for various discussions here regarding this transfer.. Taxis would not normally be waiting at the train station- you must call for one
