Best way to travel from Vienna Airport to Hotel de France

We are wondering what is the best way to get from the airport to Hotel de France. It seems that the train station is quite a distance from the Hotel. Any suggestions?

Public transport-wise, it would be the most efficient (only one change involved) to take the Vienna Airport Lines bus to Südbahnhof and then tram D to Schottentor/University. Hotel De France is on Schottenring 3, so only a few metres on foot from that stop.

However, if you are travelling after December 11, that bus route will no longer be in operation as the train station will be shut down for reconstruction, the bus would stop in Meidling, which would make the journey to your hotel a bit more complicated. Alternatively, you can take the CAT (City Airport Train) or Schnellbahn S8 to Wien-Mitte and change to underground line U4 there (direction: Heiligenstadt), get off at Schottenring and change to underground U2 (direction: Karlsplatz) to get off at the next stop, which is Schottentor.

Quickest way would, of course, be a taxi - pre-booked ones come to 27-29 EUR.

As an alternative to the above-

You can take the airport transfer bus to Morzinplatz/ Schwedenplatz.

The cost is 6 euro payable to driver with the bus found just outside of the arrivals hall.

The trip takes about 30 minutes with frequent service.

Then simply look for the Streetcar #1 that is located nearby -and just in front of you.

You can buy a ticket for this on the car itself in the front 2 euro or buy tickets at the info Booth in the airport single ride is 1,80 euro but numerous longer term tickets available 24, 48 72 hours etc.

you want the direction to Stefan Fadingerplatz - Saltztorbrucke is probably the closest stop .

Then a very short 5 minute ride to the Schottentor stop and the hotel is on Ring- you will pass it on the right side just before the stop

Using the airport bus to Morzinplatz is easy. Most times a porter to assist with storing your luggage in the cargo area.

A short streetcar ride to the hotel.. The stop 2 minute or less walk away on the Ringstrasse

Obviously using the transfer taxi can be less trouble as you come directly to the door of the hotel. But more expensive.

Drivers expect a small tip. They assisit you with luggage .
