No ignorant question- not everyone is a music expert. If she expects to hear the composers you mention.

You can find Mozart.

www.mozarthaus.at

Mozart lived and performed here it is said.

The oldest concert hall in Vienna - quite small and interesting-

the program contains a good portion of Mozart.

Performances November 5, 6, and 7 .

Other concert halls

a quick look found nothing of great interest to fit your request at the above.

For your request , i would not recommend Salome-

Hello Vertical

Thanks for the info, the Mozarthaus looks very interesting and fact that he lived there will be very nice,is it the same program every evening as i wasnt sure from the site?

She is also a big fan of the Opera and i thought Richard Strauss was the famous %26quot;Strauss%26quot; ? so together with the OperaHouse which looks fantastic i thought it might be a good pick....why do you feel not? do hesitate to give me honest view))))

Is there any options on Philamonic Orchestra performances you can recommend

Thanks again

Mozarthaus - the same performance .

Re Salome-

Some confuse Richard Strauss- a german composer of Salome and Johann Strauss of Vienna %26quot; The waltz King %26quot; Blue Danube Waltz, and known for his famous %26quot;Die Fledermaus %26quot; operetta a traditional performance at New Years. and like most operettas of that time light, entertaining and with a happy ending.

They are musically much different and lived in different eras -

Johann Strauss the Son ( his father also a fmous composer here ) 1825- 1899 ? Richard Strauss lived well into the middle of the 20th century.

Salome, an opera, heavy, known for the Dance of the Seven Veils and the severed head of John the Baptist..

The leading role very demanding. the music I never liked the plot or music. But i should quickly add that many do.

Certainly the venue of the Opera House makes for a great atmosphere .

The Vienna Philharmonic does not play during your visit

Look to the performance of the Symphoniker perhaps this would be OK and the venue one of the best in the world and worth a visit.

Surprisingly my friend Vertical did not mention Vienna%26#39;s second opera house, the Volksoper. It%26#39;s cheaper, less formal and has a lighter repetoire than the Staatsoper including operetta. If you are still in Vienna on the evening of Saturday 7th they are giving Verdi%26#39;s Rigoletto which would be more appealing to most than Salome.

The Wiener Symphoniker concert Vertical mentions sounds good. Rachmaninov%26#39;s best known piano concerto (Brief Encounter) and one of Tchaikovsky%26#39;s mightiest symphonies all played in one of the world%26#39;s most famous and finest concert halls. And you have three nights (4th - 6th) to choose from to attend this concert!
