How can I find the meadow from "The Hills are Alive" by car?

I have been to Salzburg before and did not have time to try to find the hill where Julie Andrews %26quot;twirled%26quot; in the opening scene. I noticed that someone else also wondered how to get there. Someone mentioned that the scene was shot over the border in Bavaria, but I thought I read somewhere else that it was shot in or near Fuschl (with a view of Untersburg and one of the lakes in the background).

I get to go back to Salzburg next summer, and I was wondering if there is anyone who can tell me (and these other people) how to get there? I really want to find it this time. I%26#39;ve been searching all over the internet, and can%26#39;t quite figure it out.

Does anybody know??

Hello, after years of wondering where that scene was shot I%26#39;m 99.9% certain that I%26#39;ve found it. You drive over towards Berchtesgaden and at a village called Marktschellenberg you take a tiny road to Ettenberg. The meadow is up above Ettenberg church. The reason I%26#39;m so certain is that I know the mountains very well now and as Julie is running up towards the camera I can identify the mountains behind her. Last month we were on the Kneifelspitze, a peak that you can see in the opening of the film and we realised that the meadow behind Ettenberg must be the one.

You cannot see the Untersberg from Fuschl.

The closing scene is also in Bavaria (ironic as they%26#39;re running from the Nazis). They are on Rossfeldstrasse, a panoramic (toll) road which you can also access easily. As the film closes you can see the Salzach river, the city and the airport :-)

From the satellite map at this web address, where are the church and meadow you are talking about? I%26#39;m not sure how close the google location of the church is to the actual church or which direction the meadow is.
