recommend private guide please

We will be at Vienna on the 26th sept to 30th sept traveling from prague and staying at Le Meridien. Whilst we were in prague we got a private guide at Euro 33 per hour |minimun 3 hours). The guide was very good but we noticed we kept having to pay for tickets at full prices for museums, walks, castle visits etc. Can someone recommend a good english speaking guide in vienna who is %26quot;clever%26quot; about minimising costs of tickets to famous places\?We also plan to make a day visit to Salzburg and would also like to hire a private guide. we are traveling with our mother-3 of us.

Hi there. Because you%26#39;ll be in Vienna for four days, it would be well worth your while getting the Vienna card - (check out the website www.wienkarte.at) As well as covering your transportation, it will get you reduced rates into the museums and attractions. Vienna is a very walkable city and I personally wouldn%26#39;t bother with a private guide as I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;d really need it because there%26#39;s a lot of info in English everywhere you go. Just get yourself a decent guidebook and you can see the city at your own pace. Enjoy!

PS, forgot to mention that your hotel is a great one re location and comfort. We stayed there on honeymoon a few years ago and the bed was so lovely we slept for 12 hours on our first night!

I would have a look to the tourist website

www.wien.info

click on sightseeing - then to tours and guides.

This will offer a comprehansive review of the many things that may be of interest to you.

You can always combine time touring on your own with specific guiding to assist you.

Look carefully at the Vienna Card . Yes it does offer discounts but you can often find better entrance prices for senior visitors, students and families that are better than those found with this card.

Also you can look on the above site for major sightseeing places that often offer combi tickets with other venues that save you considerable amounts.

Guiding all depends on your comfort level of touring.

The center portion of Vienna has many tourist places close together making your sightseeing easy and for some walking the old streets at your own pace is a preferred mehtod.
