the S8 and S7 are the same line... Take the S8 into town.

All of the maps you get have the line to the airport marked as the S7; this is true, but it mutates into the S8 in the other direction.

Into Wienmitte, it%26#39;s the S8. Landstrasse is the U-bahn station, which is just next door. (Like Victoria British Rail and Victoria tube station, if you know London).

If you are pressed for time to get to the airport, I%26#39;d take the CAT, as the S7 isn%26#39;t that frequent.

If you do take the S7 to the airport, you need to take it in the direction of Wolfsthal.

Salsafiend there are a couple of inaccuracies in the above. The S7 runs every half hour which is just as frequent as the CAT. It does take about 12 minutes longer to make the journey. But only one train an hour goes through to Wolfsthal, the other terminates at the airport. Maybe that%26#39;s what confused you.

The CAT is a bit quicker, but much more expensive especially as you can%26#39;t use Vienna Transport tickets for any part of the journey. Also the S8 (and I do concede the number change is confusing) stops at other points before Wien Mitte which can make for easier connections in some instances!
