Which ice caves review

I have just arrived home from yet another wonderful trip to Austria.

So many people here spoke about the Dachstein ice caves that we decided to go. We have already visited the ice caves at Werfen a couple of years ago so I feel we are able to offer a balanced view.

Just comparing the actual caves themselves, Werfen is far superior. There is so much more to see and it is really quite stunning. We felt very disappointed by the caves at Dachstein.

However, Dachstein is laid out much better and is far easier to get to. It is quite strenuous if you are out of condition (like me!) but inside the steps are better and is not too bad going up and down.

Werfen is strenuous on the walk up to the entrance but the views along the way are stunning. Inside, the steps are harder, as you go in much further and so see much more too.

So, comparing the two is difficult. If you can%26#39;t cope with the walk there, visit Dachstein, but if you want a really fantastic experience, visit Werfen.

We also visited the Five Fingers at Dachstein, which is a platform at the top of the mountain - which is very scary!!!!
