st christoph or obertauern

I have previously skiied in Obertauern. I have liked the layout of the village and the fact it is snowsure with ski in/out accommodation. I am wondering whether to try St Christoph as a change this year. In our family there is a range of abilities. Can anyone advise? Also looking for hotel recommendations.

St. Christoph is also at high altitude - about 200 meters and usually has excelent snow conditions.

Perhaps you already know that it is very, very small and has just a few accomodations- Most expensive.

Thus it is much different from Obertauern, lmuch less nightlife and access to other things.

It is connected to St. Anton vis ski lifts and also bus - bus the buys service stops in the evening.

If you want quiet and skiing - a nice place.

Mostly , it is for better skiers generally. Several smaller lifts in the village but probably not the place for a beginner skier if you have one in your party.

St Anton jst below offers much more if this suits your wishes- more like Obertauern.

for info on both places including hotels

In St. Christoph excelent hotel is the Hospiz

For many years, the was the examination point for the austrian ski instructors.

Many thanks. We are not looking for any nightlife and would be happy to stay at hotel. The hotel that you mentioned is fully booked for the dates I am looking for. There are no beginners but I am a very cautious skiier who likes easy runs so I am not sure if it is suitable. Any thoughts?

many thanks

St. christoph would not be best suited for your group as you descibe your skiing.

The following resorts all within 20 minutes of each other.

Look to St. Anton that has various good places offering various degrees of easy to moderate skiing.

Many , many hotel choices - good apartments too - the website will offer possibilities.

Alte Post among others is good.

website is listed above .

Also look to Lech and Oberlech.

www.lech.at

The area of Oberlech is above Lech accessible by cable car - most places there can offer ski in ski out.

High altitude offers almost guaranteeded good skiing.

many varied trails

an especially nice hotel the Goldenerberg

www.goldenerberg.at

The small village of Zurs nearby-

the Zurserhof-

expensive but a fine hotel just above this smalll village- great snow
