The military museum and Belvedere palace are within walking distance of one another (whereas the Liechtenstein Palace is on the opposite side of the centre). I%26#39;d do them on the same day as neither will take more than a couple of hours of your time. You only mention a concert at Schönbrunn, not a visit to the palace and park (let alone the other attractions there) which surprises me as it%26#39;s Vienna%26#39;s most visited sight! Many people do Melk, Krems and Dürnstein on the same day as they%26#39;re in the same area of the Danube. I%26#39;m not sure Salzburg would detain you for virtually two full days, especially if you%26#39;re doing the SOM sights on another day. How much of your timetable is controlled by tours that are part of your package?

I like the suggestion to do the Military Museum on the same day as the Belvedere. The trip to Melk is an all day tour which includes a short cruise on the Danube but I don%26#39;t if we actually visit Krems or Durnstein. The Day one historical tour includes Schonbrunn Palace. The second visit is for the dinner/concert. We are completely on our own for this entire trip - we are free to change anything and everything - we have tremendous flexibility here.

Look at this web site and the offer of the Melk- Wachau- Krems train kombi ticket offer

www.ddsg-blue -danube .at

This offers you more flexibility than a tour and lets you spend more time perhaps to see more of what you like.

It could also save you valuable travel time.

The ticket includes train travel to /from Vienna, admission to Melk and the boat cruise Melk - Krems.

Assume this will be available next year as the same has ben offered for many years.

Take the boat from Melk to Durnstein- visit this village and then onward by regional train just 10 minutes to the center of krems at the train station. This allows for a tour of krems too on your own.

In my opinion the concert at Schonbrunn is not a great evening - better concerts in the center of Vienna

www.musikverein.at

the home of the Vienna Philharmonic and the famous New Years Concert. The building itself worth a visit.

the State Opera

www.staatsoper.at

Volksoper-

good operettas and more

www.volksoper.at

the above often cheaper than the Schonbrunn concert and yet hiher quality.

Be certain to visit a Vienna cafe and enjoy some pastry

also perhaps a heuriger - wine tavern -evening
