rainy day in the Zillertal

Hi all,

I have another Zillertal question:

We%26#39;re staying just outside of Mayrhofen in Finkenberg and were wondering if anyone has suggestions for %26quot;what to do%26quot; in case of inclement (rainy) weather, as we will be arriving soon.

We%26#39;ve previously been to:

Tratzburg Castle

Wattens (Swarovski)

Hall in Tirol

Innsbruck

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Paul

I go next week to the Zillertal and the weather looks to bring a few showers perhaps.

Assume you visit with an auto-

In Schwaz in the Inntal toward Innsbruck is a silver mine tour.

This one of the largest silver mines of medieval times and brings much wealth to the area.

A visit to the town of Rattenberg - a glass center .

parking lots at each end of the small town so just a very short walk into the pedestrian zone .

Interesting old buildings and of course glass shops.

Nearby in Brixlegg is the Giesswein factory store.

Some bargain loden shopping available . The store for men, women and kids- very near to the train station.- toward the autobahn side. Good parking in front of the store.

nearby in Kramsach is the farm Museum

www.museum-tb.at

this needs some walking but very intersting place with old farm buildings moved here to show former farm life.

In Mayrhofen, the cheese factory - in the north end of town. Tour available . rental cheese shop and often on weekends music - a large under roof area available.

Zillertal narrow guage train ride though the valley

sometimes with an old steam locomotive.

Check with the tourist office or look on the Mayrhofen website. The cows will be coming down from the mountains soon and many villages in the Zillertal will have their fests to celebrate this

also if you like fresh trout- go to the village Ginzling close to Finkenberg and mayrhofen.

A place such as

Hopefully not much rain for your visit.
