Worth a visit?

We are intending having a holiday in Austria next year and had been thinking of Salzburg, Vienna and Zell am See, flying in and out of Munich. However as we do not intend driving we now realise that Vienna is some 5 hours on the train from Zell am See and wonder what would be an alternative to this. We were planning perhaps 3 nights in Salzburg, 7 nights at Zell am See and 4 somewhere else? We would very much like your suggestions.

I would not really mind an 5 hour traín ride to Vienna as you seem to have enough time. If you could get an open-jaw flight (In: Munich/Out: Vienna or vice versa), then it would not be a problem at all. To avoid traveling along the same railway corridor twice, you could alternatively travel on a Graz-bound train from Zell am See (through the Ennstal Valley) to Leoben where the Vienna-bound train arrives a few minutes later. If you need to go back to Salzburg (and on to Munich) then logically take one of the numerous direct trains leaving from Vienna%26#39;s Railway Station West.

Just read that you could also fly from Bratislava making an open-jaw trip more sufficient.
