Hi, we will travel from Salzburg to Innsbruck in the morning then catch an evening train back to Salzburg.
It will be a relax day trip and we only want to sight see the city and admire the beautiful mountain scenery there.
Pls advice how to spend a day at Innsbruck.
Thanks.

Hi,
If it%26#39;s a clear day, I%26#39;d suggest taking the Hungerburgbahn a funicular from the old town) up to Hungerburg (very small village with nice views overlooking Innsbruck) and from there take the Nordkettenbahn up into the mountains for spectacular views of Innsbruck and the Alps.
Otherwise you could spend the afternoon walking the old town... see the Golden Roof, Hofkirche, etc, many shops and outdoor cafes. I%26#39;d take the ride up to Hungerburg at the very least though. It doesn%26#39;t take much time and the views are great.

But i am traveling with my 1 year old son, so i am not sure he is ok for that.

We too will be spending a day in Innsbruck with our 1 yr old son. Please, if you don%26#39;t mind, would you let us know what you find to do? And if you find something or somewhere that is particularly kid friendly? Thanks so much

Taking the bahn up to the mountains is a good recommendation.
Note that an Alpen zoo is by a stop on this route - perhaps fun for a child of any ae and a good way to combine things.

you do not mention when you go- if plans are for very soon- be aware that the very center of Innsbruck shopping area near to the Old Town %26quot; Altstadt %26quot; is being completely renovated and changed into a pedestrian zone.
Hopefully this work nears completion.
It does not affect the old town area and some nice sights there.
The Imperial Church makes a good visit , the museum next to it interesting too.
Some early season snow earlier this week on some of the mountain tops too.
adding to the beauty od f the surroundings
