schuttdorf

We are planning to visit Zell am See next February. We have seen an apartment in the Schuttdorf area.We have teenagers in the group who would probably want to go out in the evenings without adults tagging along. Is this area far from the main town? Would we be better to look for something more central.

Also is there easy access to the slopes from this area for skiers of all abilities?

Schüttdorf is - as you can see on maps - located South of Zell am See. The distance is approximately 2km what is walkable in my opinion. You could also take the train if you are willing to stick to the schedule. I suppose that there is also a taxi service available in case you are too exhausted to wander.

One ski lift originates from Schüttdorf as you can see on the enclosed ski slope map:

Beside that, there is a (free) bus serving the area with the slopes.

Thankyou. I had looked at the map and it looked further away than the 15 minute walk described in the apartment info. On multimap it said 30 minutes so i just wanted to clarify.

I get the impression that there are bars/restaurants

in this area anyway.

We were in Zell am See in the summer. The walk to Schuttdorf is along the lakeside - I%26#39;d put it nearer a 20-25 mionute walk. The walk is lovely in the summer but I%26#39;m not sure whether I%26#39;d like my teenager doing it at night.

Thanks - that was my concern. Are there any bars/restaurants in schuttdorf?

We saw the odd cafe, but please remember that in summer many places are closed, so there may well be more open in the winter.

Sorry I can%26#39;t be of more help - maybe try another post with a title like %26#39;anyone stayed in schuttdorf in winter?%26#39; and see if anyone responds.

I would add that the main area of Zell am See is great and would be a teenagers paradise, as well as having an good range of shops and restaurants for you.

Hi,

I have found 2 apartments for our 2 family groups in Zell so i%26#39;ve booked those. Thanks for your advice!

To be honest Schuttdorf is kinda quiet - not a lot to see and do. A few pubs and restaurants but not brilliant. You%26#39;ll probably end up travelling over to Zell am see each evening. Schuttdorf is great if you just want the skiing. Accommodation is cheaper - and you are close to a ski station. Kaprun quite close too by the way!
