Vienna to Bratislava by boat help!

Hi,

Me and a few freinds are going to Vienna for 1 night next wednesday (16/09) and then heading on to Bratislavia, i would like to head to Brastlava via the Danube river! ive done a search on here and many people mentioned the %26quot;twin city liner%26quot; but it looks like you have to book in advance! as there is 10 of us going this will be quit hard to get this done and paid for in advance!

are there many companys that offer the baot service? and do you think it would be possible to buy tickets on the day?

any help regarding this would be great!

thanks in advance,

Beside of the modern twin-city liner, there is this one:

Seems to be a soviet-built Hydrofoil...

I%26#39;d check the day you want to travel (I%26#39;m sure you can also call them), otherwise there is a comfortable, hourly train connection to Bratislava. (Better take the trains to Bratislava hl. st., which is the main station and nearer than Bratislava Petrzalka).

Austrian railways ÖBB:

You can buy the train tickets just before you go... maybe there%26#39;s also a group-discount available.

The twin city liner is the faster of the boats and the docking is better located in Vienna.

The boat capacity is about 100 . I would call them direct with your request for 10 people perhaps something can be arranged if you really wish to o on the river.

Another alternative boat exists too

mahart hydrofoils

www.marhartpassnave.hu

Both Marhart and the other Lov lrave Vienna from the Reichsbrucke station on the danube. This is out of the city center- less convenient and must be reached by the UBahn line U-1 and then a 10 minute walk.

Both of these boats are soviet era hydrofoils- older- slower and lees comfortable than the twin city liner.

Also check lugage allowed .

Some charge for luggage by weight after a fixed amount and do not allow large pieces.

In my opinion the train a much better option.

... and a lot cheaper and a good deal more comfortable by train as well!

You can attempt to get the tickets upon arrival. If you encounter insufficient availability, you can still opt for the train.

Why bother to even try to obtain last minute tickets?

The trip is not very scenic, actually dull to me and much more costly than the train.

The boats all seat about a 100 persons so availibility without reservations would be quite limited especially for a group.
