This may be very helpful to some visitors. Fly Niki is a reliable and good discount carrier in my opinon. They also are making profits while offering some good prices.

25 and 26 are holidays with families often making outings , walks in the parks, visits etc.
best to reserve for the 24th evening meal- many places with a fixed menu.

Margaretenplatz, 5th district (dont remember the number) is the address and since it is a very small place you cannot miss it it has a total blue window ;)
We followed these directions and found a laundry drop Putzerei at the corner of Margarentenstrasse and Kettenbruckengasse. The cost was 11 euro per load and a load was big enough to accomodate a week%26#39;s worth of clothes for 2 people. This is a convenient location for those near the southern city center and only a 10-15 minute walk from the Opernring. Very close to Nash-market to grab a bite to eat on the way back into the city.
This issue has interested me now for some time: the lack of places to do laundry on your own while traveling in Austria.
While there are a few places in large cities, the addresses of which are traded on the internet as %26#39;%26#39;finds%26#39;%26#39;, a %26#39;%26#39;regular%26#39;%26#39; laundromat is virtually unknown throughout the country. I have posed this question to many in the tourist industry and not yet had the feeling that it was considered something important. Even larger, very modern and otherwise very well equipped %26#39;%26#39;Pensionen%26#39;%26#39; do not provide a laundry service. I tried to plant the thought in a few innkeepers heads as a point of differentiation. A washer and dryer for guest use could quickly pay for itself, or set the establishment apart from others. We%26#39;ll see.
Even a so called %26quot;Schnellwäscherei%26quot; in larger towns and cities at best proposes a two day turn-around, with three days the norm. Not good enough, I say.
No idea how the Austrian travels - perhaps stays with family or only uses longer term %26#39;%26#39;Ferienwohnungen%26#39;%26#39; (apartments), where a washer/dryer may be available?
A thought for Tripadvisor: start a list of Austrian laundromats and one-day turnaround laundry services by city. Most of us from North America would welcome this.

I have just come back from a holiday at Lake Attersee and stayed at the Strand Hotel. It was fantastic! I can not fault it at all. The staff Thomas and Anna are fantastic nothing is too much trouble. The food is really nice, a set menu of soup, main which you choose from two options at breakfast and a delicious pudding. It has its own beach on the waterfront opposite the hotel, remember to take your swimming gear as you can swim in the lake.
Weyregg itself is quiet, beautiful and friendly. I recommend going on one of the boat trips around the late, especially one of the evening party boats from the towns jetty.

Are you by any chance considering a trip with Travelsphere? It%26#39;s just that I am looking at a trip to Weyregg, staying at the Strand Hotel which is a Travelsphere holiday. Have been on two Travelsphere holidays in the past and both have been great - one to Valkenburg in Holland and the other to Lake Molveno.
It says there is no lift at the hotel. How would it be for someone with limited mobility. Can anyone tell me how many floors there are?

We stayed at the Strand in early July 2008 on what would have been a travelsphere holiday, (Undersuscribed, so was called off not long after Travelscope went down the pan) we took our car %26amp; drove from Hampshire!
we stayed in a beautiful first floor room with a lakeside view, the stairs are very gentle and the view from the 6 yard by 1 yard balcony was outstanding. (due west, straight into georgeous sunsets) Icannot recommend this hotel enough, the food was as good as any we have had before in Austria and Thomas has a good raport with our language, if he doesn%26#39;t know, he will tell you so.
It is a short amble into the village, where the family has another hotel with a lovely tea (%26amp; coffee) garden and desserts as good as I%26#39;ve had anywhere. Go there, you will love it.
We have just got back from a Weyregg,staying at the Strand Hotel with Travelsphere and cannot praise it enough. The Hotel was lovely and clean,the rooms are big and airy with gorgeous views over the lake,the food is also very nice with a buffet breakfast and a three course evening meal with a choice of main courses with a set soup and desert. For the price you pay the holiday is amazing good value although you always get some people who are never satisfied, but we thought it fantastic and would reccomend anyone to go there.
I stayed at the Strand Hotel last month and unfortunately don%26#39;t recognise the positive comments here. I found the hotel very disappointing and the food choice and quality poor. The rooms were very clean but old fashioned and tired. There was no area to sit in with other guests when you came back from trips (which as a single traveller) is an important part of the holiday. Staff were pleasant but it felt like they were working to rule. Weyrigg is very small and is not serviced by much in the way of public transport so not suitable for families or those who don%26#39;t have trips as part of their holiday package. The lack of lift was a problem for some on the trip.

I am interested in wine and tasting Vienesse wines. How far is the nearest wine region from Vienna. Is a day trip feasible? Or one night somewhere? Do they cater for tourists with tastings etc.

Vienna is perhaps the only city of the world with vineyards directly within the city limits. Numerous opportunities to sample some wine without leaving the actual city.

Here%26#39;s another tip - if the weather is good, take the old Tram line 38 (streetcar) out to Grinzing, get out at the turn-around and wander the streets. You will find many places to taste wines of the region, and also have a good meal, then take the same street-car back to town.

I will not agree with the advice given by amphitryin.
I believe that many of Vienna would not recommend one looking for quality wine tasting to choose Grinzing.
Grinzing may be satisfactory for a tourist wishing to experience a heuriger evening of music, some austrian specialites and some wine.
This area however is well known as a tourist center with less than excelent wine in most instances and prices that are not really realistic for what is offered.
As it appears that you , the original poster ,must know some thing about wine, to me it is less than the good tasting experience you desire.
Mayer am Pfarrplatz is not found near to the line 38 or by 2- 3 stops before its termination as I believe stated. It would be a extended long walk from the 38 terminus.
It would not consider itself even in Grinzing but rather Heiligenstadt.
t is best accessed from the city center by taking the UBahnline 4 to the end station Heilingstadt and then taking the bus 38 A to the stop Fernsprechamt.
One then walks a few hundred meters up hill and finds it on a Platz- Square on the right side.
Or as an alternative taking the strassenbahn 38 to the end and then transfer to the bus 38A heading toward Heiligenstadt.
Perhaps the poster was not actually there or had some wine before this visit.
With many rooms , it normally would not need reservations .
Their wine after some changes in recent years is good and makes for a nice evening.
Wein and Co. has many locations in Vienna. One is very close to Stephansdom with a wine shop, tasting bar and food also.
Another convenient location is on the Ringstrasse near to Scottentor and across from the University.
They have an excelent selection of austrian wine and those of many other countries as well.
If time is limited for you, this can make a good stop.

You come too early in the season for any snow most probably.
Perhaps a little in the high mountains or for certain at a glacier. But looking at your crazy schedule, certainly no time for much of anything.
Slow down a little and enjoy the sights rather than sit in trains.

Please try to find most of the answers by using the search function of the forum as advice has been given numerous times on that. Finding a close-to-perfect accommodation is barely feasible, in any case it means a lot of research. Search for %26quot;apartment%26quot; in the Vienna subforum and a lot of matching threads should appear. The easiest way to Prague is definitely the train which departs approx. every 2 hours.

I picked up on a recommendation from Vertical and stayed recently at the %26quot;Pension Kraml%26quot; - good location and easy access to subway etc.
Excellent breakfast and IMHO reasonable at EU 76.00 for a double room with facilities en suite. Good beds and very friendly service. Internet access - and computer on premises. Small fridge in the room - something we like. Ask for a room on a lower floor - no elevator (but they will help you with luggage, if needed).
Travel to Prague - I%26#39;d think train travel is best. But I%26#39;ll let the Vienna experts explain. Plus there%26#39;s already a ton of info in this forum.

You have many opportunities to find an apartment in Vienna.
Contrary to the above , many will often rent for much less than one week. Others will offer a discount for longer stays.
The center of Vienna, known as the Innere Stadt or First District offers many good places.
Many like apartments here as you often have much more space , a small kitchen to prepare a meal if wished saving money or just having snacks.

The Schatzkammer - Treasury- at the Hofburg palace- crowns , jewels, regalia holy Roman crown aand much more.

entrance on the left of Josef Platz not far from the Spanish Riding School entrance.
Be certain to visit one or more of the many cafes of Vienna. Not just a chance to relax but good pastry etc.
